We aim to transform our gallery into an energetic visual arts space accessed and understood by the community we serve; focusing on promoting new work and practices.

Exhibition Submissions

Criteria for applying for exhibitions in Droichead Arts Centre.

The closing date for our visual arts submissions for 2012/2013 is the 30th August 2011. In order to apply for an exhibition please supply the following information:

  • A cover letter
  • An up-to-date CV
  • A description of your proposed exhibition
  • Technical requirements: Images of your work on CD (preferably), laser copies and slides are also acceptable.

The duration of exhibitions are 4-6 weeks depending on the programme.

Artist Studios

There are two artist studios located in the backyard of our Barlow House Facility. The maximum duration an artist can reside in each studio is negotiable. The rental fee per studio is €35 per week (this is a subsidised rate).

Eligibility

First choice will be given to full time professional artists. Part-time artists are eligible but will need to indicate how often they envisage using the studios. Artists must apply in writing by email or letter to the Carol Ann Brodigan, Droichead Arts Centre, Barlow House, Narrow West St, Drogheda, Co. Louth. Artists do not need to be from the locality.

Facilities

Each Studio is secure with it own washing facilities and electricity points .Toilets are situated as part of the complex to be accessed by the resident artists only and maintained regularly by Droichead Arts Centre.

What is the cost?

The cost of renting a studio is €35 per week to be paid by direct debit. Electricity costs are not included in the rental fee. These will be recorded and charged to each artist on a monthly basis.

Access

Artists will have access to their studios via Barlow Yard gate. Artists will have sole access to their individual studios. It is the responsibility of each artist to ensure keys are not passed around and that the property is respected at all times. Artist will only have access to Barlow House during official opening times. There are no parking facilities within the yard for resident artists how ever arrangements can be made with management regarding the deliveries of materials etc.

Lighting

There is limited natural light coming through in studios, however all studios have natural fluorescent lighting installed.
